James Charlie Lumsden, 87, of Sale Creek, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020, at his home.
He was born in Cherokee County, Al., on Nov. 15, 1932, the son of the late Jack Garvin Lumsden and Nellie Mae (Smith) Lumsden.
James had been a resident of Sale Creek since 2016 after being a long-time resident of Florida. He served his country with the U.S. Navy and earned his master’s degree in electronic communications. He retired as an electrical engineer.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Darlene (Yuhas) Lumsden of Sale Creek, two daughters, Gwyn (Stacy) Swallows of Sale Creek and Renee Watts of Tucson, AZ along with his five grandchildren, Troy Watts of Chattanooga, Lacey Watts of OR, Carson Watts of Chattanooga, and Victoria Swallows and Kyra Swallows both of Sale Creek.
Graveside military honors conducted by the U.S. Navy will be held on Tuesday morning, Sept. 22, at 10:30 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
