John Fish
John “Jack” H. Fish III, 80, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Parkridge Hospital.
Jack graduated from Columbia Military Academy, Vanderbilt University with a degree in electrical engineering and also received a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee in Electrical Engineering. Anyone who knew Jack knew his passion was rowing. He coached Chattanooga Junior Rowing and UTC Rowing for over 30 years and made an impact on a number of his rower’s lives. He retired from TVA after 25 years and started a consulting business, Power System Analyst with his partner John Boyle.
Jack and his wife enjoyed traveling with their close friends Al and Alva Lamontague and Stacia and Paul Dugan. These trips included snow skiing, scuba diving, visiting and hiking National Parks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. Fish, Sr. and Edith Nelson Fish and his brother, Joe Fish.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Liz Martin Fish, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Wanda Martin, special cousin, Ann Machen, several close friends and nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Chattanooga Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Chattanooga Junior Rowing, P.O. Box 11286, Chattanooga Tn. 37401 or to Pet Placement Center, 5975 Dayton Blvd., Chattanooga, Tn. 37415, or to your favorite charity.
The family would like to thank the staff and doctors of Parkridge Hospital who took such good care of Jack during his illness.
