Barry James Sudds, 72, passed away peacefully at home with his wife of 50 years, Eileen, and his daughter, Amanda by his side, on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 9:58 a.m.
Born and raised in Colne, Lancashire, England, Barry lived with his parents, Joyce and James Sudds, his brother, Dave and sister, Sandy. He lived a very full life, always walking to the beat of his own drum.
At the age of 16, he left school and enlisted in Her Royal Majesty’s British Navy. Serving over 10+ years, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer, Barry served on several ships all over the world.
In 1987, he was offered a job in America and immigrated to California with his wife and two children. While in the United States, he lived in California, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. Barry’s favorite place was Florida, and he wished to have his cremains scattered in the ocean off the Gulf of Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy Chapman.
Barry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eileen Sudds; son, Kevin Sudds; daughter, Amanda Sudds Senentz; brother, Dave Sudds; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Barry’s last wishes, there will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Hospice of Chattanooga.
