Chattanooga Area Food Bank To Demonstrate Impact Of Pandemic On Hunger Action Day

  • Wednesday, September 9, 2020

The Chattanooga Area Food Bank Board of Directors and Associate Board will stake 200 orange plates into the ground in front of its warehouse off Amnicola Highway beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Hunger Action Day.

Each plate will represent 1,000 people for the nearly 200,000 people in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia projected to face hunger as a result of the pandemic.

"The plates will remain on the lawn the rest of September, which is Hunger Action Month, to remind people to act in support of others in need," officials said.

"Every action counts during Hunger Action Month this September: make a donation, sign up to volunteer or share a social media post. For more information, visit chattfoodbank.org."
