Noah H. Green, 83, of Cleveland and formerly of the Greasy Creek community, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2021 at his daughter’s residence, surrounded by his loving family. Noah, who was lovingly known as “Boss Man,” was a life-long member of Fairview Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon for over 55 years. He retired from the U.S. Forest Service after 37 years of dedicated and faithful service. After retirement, he worked at the saw mill, as well as the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, until 2017. While working for the Sheriff’s Department, he befriended many inmates who served on the work duty crew and continued the friendships after their release, due to his non-judgemental and loving personality.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gerry Green; beloved daughter, Connie Green-Lipps; parents, Johnny and Jewel Green; and siblings, Cecil Green, Bill Green, Lois Jackson, Minnie Bain and Louise Jones.
Survivors include his beloved daughters, Joyce (Alvin) Hixson, Sharon (Froney) Rymer, Denise (David) Waddell and Renee (Allen) Martin; wife, Patricia Voyles Green; step-children, Tyson Voyles, Travis Voyles and Andrea Kuczynski; grandchildren, Tiffany (Chris) Blackwell, Lance Dobbs, Cory Dobbs, Shelly (Sandy) Wild, Jayson Waddell, Noah Waddell, Samantha (Matt) Welch and Dylan Cheatham; and great-grandchildren, Daven Blackwell, Caden Blackwell, Alley Wild, Kitt Waddell and Lily Welch.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18 at Fairview Baptist Church, with Pastor Chad Maxwell and Pastor Bobby Green officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, with Allen Martin officiating. Noah’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers and great-grandsons as honorary pallbearers.
His family will receive friends from noon–2 p.m. on Monday, prior to the service at the church
