Lee Roy Gibson, 69, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at a local hospital. He was a life-long resident of Cleveland and was from the Blythe Oldfield community.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He worked as a carpenter for most of his life and was a talented artist, creating many gifts to family over the years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Brothers, Alhambra Shrine. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He had a ready smile for everyone he met and always found the good in each person.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Glenn Gibson and Nellie Louise Sprouse; brothers, Robert Gibson, Wayne Gibson and Mike Gibson; sister, Bobbie Swiger; and daughter, April Starr Gibson.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy L. (Thomas) Gibson, of Cleveland, formerly of Rockwood; son, Daryl Lee Gibson and daughter-in-law, Sarah, of Cleveland; daughter, Corinne D. Freeman and son-in-law, David Freeman, of Cleveland; grandchildren, Lily Beard and spouse, Seth Beard, Caedyn Freeman, Roxanne Gibson, Samuel Freeman and Simeon Gibson, all of Cleveland; brother, Steve Gibson and sister-in-law, Debra Gibson, of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Judy Gail Gibson, of Soddy Daisy; sister-in-law, Shirley Gibson, of Cleveland; and brother-in-law, Steven Swiger, of Cleveland. He is also survived by multiple members of his Devaney and Thomas family, whom he loved greatly.
Visitation will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17 at Companion Funeral Home, with A Celebration of Life to honor Lee’s memory at noon in the chapel.
