James Hall
Dr. James A. Hall, 87, of Chattanooga, Tennessee died peacefully Thursday, January 21, 2021 in CHI Memorial Hospital surrounded by his four children.
Jim was born in Birmingham, Alabama on April 5, 1933 to Roland P. Hall and Eva Lou Hall. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Laura Jean Hall, his parents, and his sister Rosemary Brackett.
Surviving are his children, Rosemary Batson and grandchildren Austin and Kyle Batson; Rebecca Frazer (Mardon) and grandchildren Matthew, Michael, and Katherine Frazer; Robbin Rossen and grandchildren Ryan Hart (Holli) and Lindsay Hart (Lear Lutz); James A. Hall Jr. (Beth) and grandchildren Anderson Hall and Harrison Hall; five great-grandchildren, CJ, Lilly and Merida Hart, and Lilly and Riley Lutz; and his dear friend, Pat Bell.
Jim was a graduate of Marion County High School, The University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. He was a long-time member of Brainerd United Methodist Church, and he and Laura were very active in the McFerrin Sunday school class, where they made lifelong friends. For many years, Jim was involved in the church administration and coached the girls' basketball team.
He practiced dentistry for 48 years in East Ridge, Tennessee where he was involved in the East Ridge Community Foundation, the early development of Camp Jordan, and the Lions Club. He was also a member of the Tennessee Dental Society, where he served in various leadership positions.
Jim’s service to his country took place in the United States Army where he served in Germany. He enjoyed playing tennis and took numerous tennis trips over the years with his friends.
His family plans a celebration of life ceremony at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to Brainerd United Methodist Church. (brainerdumc.org/give/)
