Kenneth Adkins, 80, passed away on January 25, 2021, of complications related to the Covid-19 virus. 

He was a lifelong resident of Lookout Valley.  Kenneth was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1958, and attended The University of Chattanooga.

He retired from the Electric Power Board (EPB), where he served as a shop supervisor in the Automotive Maintenance Department and was lovingly called ‘Motor Doc.’  

Kenneth was active in the Chattanooga Central Camp of the Gideons and volunteered at Hamilton County Baptist Ministry Center (HaCoBa).  

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Anita McCalla Adkins; parents, Ben and Dimple Adkins; grandparents, Harvey and Katie Caldwell Brown, and John and Emma Adkins. 

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Lamar Adkins, and daughter Vicki Lynn (James) Goldsmith; grandchildren, Michael Adkins, Timothy Goldsmith, and Olivia Goldsmith; his brother, Ray (Charlotte) Adkins, and sister, Doris Adkins Ellis; and his niece, Cara (Jonathan) Woolsey.

Visitation and services will be conducted at Lane Funeral Home, South Crest Chapel, 833 Chickamauga Avenue, Rossville. 

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 28, from 4-8 p.m., and Friday, Jan. 29, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., followed by a service at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Lakewood Memory Gardens, West (Lookout Valley).  Dr. Rickey Gravely, Pastor of Bible Way Baptist Church in Rossville, will officiate at both services.  Webcasting will be available on the funeral home website. 

Pallbearers will be Michael Adkins, Timothy Goldsmith, Jonathon Woolsey, Jonathon Langley, Ben Haire, and Randy Rogers.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund, Bible Way Baptist Church, Rossville, or to the Chattanooga Central Camp of the Gideons.

Face masks and social distancing are required for all who plan to attend one or both services. Mask will be provided if needed. 

Arrangements are by South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
