With the angels at her side, the Lord took the hand of Anita Kay Lea to guide her the pearly gates of heaven on Monday, January 4, 2021. 

Kay was 73 years old and lived in her Jasper, Tn. with her husband, Crawford David Lea. She was born on June 30, 1947 to her parents, Flem Moss, Sr. and Alline Perkins Moss and raised in Whitwell, Tn. Kay was a born again Christian of the Baptist faith along with being a very active and devoted member at Morning Star Baptist Church in Whitwell, Tn. Kay loved singing in the choir and at times blessed the membership with solo songs. She also assisted with designing church programs, bulletins and any other active her church needed. Her love for serving her Lord and the church were very important in her life. Kay had been employed with Blue Cross Blue Shield as a claim processor in Chattanooga, for over 30 years before she retired.    

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Flem Moss, Sr. and Alline Perkins Moss; brothers, Flem Moss, Jr., Bobby Dean Carson and Donald “Ducky” Carson who went before her on December 19th 2020; and sisters, Loretta Peoples, Lena Bea Moss and Dora Belle Moss and nephew, Randall "Randy" Carson who greeted her with saying "fancy meeting you here, its about time".

Those left to cherish the fondness memories of Kay are her husband of 52 years, Crawford David Lea; sons, Bobby (Tracy) Lea and David (Loretta) Lea; daughter, Amanda (Greg) Levan; brothers-in-law, Walter (Erthelene) Lea and Joe (Wanda) Lea; sister-in-laws, Betty Carson, Ester Rivley and Elizabeth “Sissy” Guffey; grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Reed, Mackenzie Lea, Rose and Trinity Lea and Haley Griffith; great-grandchildren, Cheyanne and Rowan along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles along with beloved friends.

Kay loved her husband, children and most of all her grandchildren. She was loyal and devoted to her Lord and her friends. During her pastime, Kay was known for having the love of “shopping”, traveling, photography, crafts, any hobby that crossed her path and ceramics. Kay had a heart of kindness, giving and loving everyone she met. She will be missed by her family and friends.

The family will have visitation on Saturday, Jan. 9, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. CT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.

Pallbearers will be Calvin Carson, Derek Sisk, James Keeler, Jimmy Lea, Joey Lea and Bo Guffey.

There will be a graveside service following the visitation on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jim Troyer officiating.
