Wanda Weller, 96, of Chattanooga, passed away on October 12, 2021.

 

Wanda was born in Celina, Ohio, graduated from Fairmont High School in Dayton, Ohio, and has lived in Chattanooga for more than 70 years. Wanda met and married the love of her life, Von, and together they raised five children. She was a breast cancer survivor of 35 years. A college scholarship is given each year in her honor through the Foundation at the MaryEllen Locher Breast Center to children who have been impacted by breast cancer. For over 40 years she was an active member of the Midfield Acres Community Club, and she hosted the annual Christmas making of fruit baskets for shut-ins. Wanda was a member of Tyner United Methodist Church since the early 1950s.

 

As a teenager, Wanda played with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, and her love of music continued throughout her life. Her final hours were spent listening to gospel and Christmas music while surrounded by her family.

 

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Von C. Weller, Jr.; brother, Paul Krouse; sisters ,Rosetta Shank, and Virginia Turner.

 

She is survived by her five children, Jo Ann (Dickie) Brooks, Ken (Shirley) Weller, Joyce (Don) Godsey, Keith Weller, and Kyle (Darla Kiser) Weller. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan and Kristen Aulds, Todd and Rick Weller, Mark Godsey, Michelle Godsey Glover, and Megan Weller; and her great grandchildren Dalton, Cameron, Gabby, Jules, Fenton, and Griffin Aulds, Tanner Weller and Josh McBride.

 

A graveside service will be officiated by Reverend Charles Harrison on Monday, Oct. 25, at 1 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hixson.

 

The family wishes to thank Ken McCoy and all of the staff at Elmcroft of Shallowford, Senior Helpers, Charlene Laguer, and Hearth Hospice for all of their love and support for Wanda.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tyner United Methodist Church, 6805 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga.
