For the second time this season, Lee University’s Christian Noble and Aaron Himes swept the Gulf South Conference weekly honors. Noble was named the GSC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week and Himes was selected the GSC Men’s Cross Country Freshman of the Week.
Noble placed fourth with a time of 25:56.25 in a loaded field at the UAH Charger Invitational, leading the Flames to a second-place team finish over No.
10 Southern Indiana, No. 12 Alabama Huntsville and No. 14 Missouri Southern.
Himes was Lee’s fifth runner to cross the finish line. He placed 35th overall with a time of 24:45.96.
As a result of the team’s performance this past weekend, the Flames jumped over Alabama Huntsville into the No. 1 spot in the South Region. UAH slipped to No. 2 with Mississippi College at No. 3. Embry-Riddle (Fla.) and Florida Southern complete the complete the top-five at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
Although Lee moved up in the South Region ratings, the Flames dropped one spot to No. 8 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National poll.
The top four teams remained unchanged with Colorado School of Mines and Grand Valley State tied for the top spot with 236 points. Adams State (224) was third with Augustana (215) fourth. Colorado Christian (203) moved up one spot to No. 5 and Pittsburgh State (201) jumped five positions to No. 6. Chico State fell two spots to No. 7 and are three points ahead of Lee.
Alabama Huntsville moved up one spot from No. 12 to No. 11, while fellow GSC member Mississippi College fell out of the top 15 to No. 17. Embry-Riddle moved up to No. 25 and Florida Southern is now receiving votes.
