Smith, Joel Bruce "Smitty"

Joel Bruce “Smitty” Smith, 69, of Rossville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 16, 2021, after a short illness.

Joel spent his early childhood in Pikeville, Tn. and moved to North Georgia at age 10. He attended Lakeview High School and enlisted in the Air Force in 1970. He was a member of Abba’s House Church in Hixson, and worked as a heavy equipment operator in Chattanooga and North Georgia for more than 40 years.

Joel was proceeded in death by his parents, James Millard Smith and Daisy Ruth Campbell Smith; and brother, Wendall Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Pamela Smith; son, James Williams, of Trenton; daughter, Kimberly (Kenneth) Hull, of Cleveland; grandson, Justin Hull, of Chattanooga; granddaughters, Kayla Hull, of Rossville, Emma Williams and Claire Williams, of Ringgold; brothers, Jim Smith, of Ellijay and Chris Smith, of Rossville GA; and a host of cousins and close friends.

There will be a memorial service at Abba’s House on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m., with Pastor John Jaques and Bill Mathis officiating. The family will receive friends from noon-2 p.m., prior to the service. 

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Companion Funeral Home and Crematory.
