Thomas “Tweety” Wayne Holloway, 70, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, went home to be with our heavenly father on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. He transitioned peacefully with his wife by his side.

Born on June 19, 1951, in Knoxville, to Jordan and Nettie Mae Holloway, Tweety spent several of his early childhood years in Detroit, MI before returning to Knoxville. He was a member of the first graduating class of Austin East High School (1969) and attended Roane State Community College and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Tweety retired after a 47-year career with Tennessee Valley Authority. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of New City Fellowship where he volunteered with the Glenwood Learning Adventure Days (GLAD) outreach ministry.

He was a loving and devoted husband, proud father, and caring and generous Big Daddy. An avid golfer, he was always “better than he deserved”. He was a straight shooter who told things like they were and never complained because “it wouldn’t do any good if he did”. Tweety loved life and was a joy to be around. He was meticulous, thoughtful, and was one heck of a dresser—always sharp. Tweety enjoyed spending time at the lake and was the best tree fisherman in Tennessee. He was tech-savvy and had to have the latest and greatest. Tweety was the best at solving problems. If after carefully weighing all options, you still couldn’t decide, he always had a coin to flip. He had a gracious heart and loved unconditionally. The only thing he ever asked for was a “fist full of fifties”.

Tweety was preceded in death by his parents Jordan and Nettie Mae Holloway and seven siblings—Samuel “Boot” Holloway, Roosevelt “Doc” Holloway, Wyline Holt, Ana Lois Daniels, Maggie Walton, Sarah Bethea, and Iona Pagan.

He is survived and forever cherished by his beloved wife of 28 years Sylvia; children TeShaun Holloway, of Knoxville, Antoine (Bridget) Holloway of Knoxville, Symba Holloway of Atlanta, Tiffani Blackwell of Knoxville, and Eboni (Tariq) Galloway of Atlanta; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, O’Dell Holloway of Louisville, Ky., and Mary P. Henry of San Diego; lifelong friend and brother Rodney (Mable) Wilson of Knoxville; many nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends whom he loved dearly.

Tweety will lie in state on Saturday, Oct. 30, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. at New City Fellowship, 2424 East 3rd Street, Chattanooga. The service honoring Tweety will begin at 2 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (themmrf.org; 383 Main Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851).
