Mary M. Chisholm, 90, departed this life on November 17, 2021, at her residence on Lookout Mountain, Georgia.

She was born, along with her two older sisters, in Korea to William and Bertha Chisholm, who were medical missionaries there.  The family returned to the U.S. in 1940. Mary graduated from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL in 1952, and returned to Korea in 1954 to assist with her parents’ missionary work. In June 1955, Mary contracted bulbar polio, miraculously survived, and was eventually flown to a polio facility in Buffalo, NY by the Military Transport Service. She had a remarkable recovery, and despite some permanent respiratory disabilities was able to walk again and eventually become a CPA in California, living with her parents who had retired from overseas missionary work.

She was preceded in death by her older sisters, Grace Chisholm Morton of Columbus, OH and Florence Chisholm Anderson of Lookout Mt, GA.

She is survived by her niece, Nancy Anderson of Chattanooga TN, and her five nephews, Daniel W. Morton of Columbus, OH, David C. Morton, of Lookout Mountain, GA, Stephen K. Morton of Seattle, WA, Paul J. Morton of Chickamauga, GA, and William L Anderson, of Frostburg MD.

A memorial service at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church, 316 N. Bragg Ave., Lookout Mountain, will be at 11 a.m. on Dec. 10.

Private family interment will be at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, Ca.

In lieu of flowers, send contributions to Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church, 316 North Bragg Ave., Lookout Mountain TN 37350.
