Powell, Lonnie Morris

Lonnie Morris Powell, 78, went to be with the Lord and Savior on Monday, November 29, 2021. A life-long resident of Lookout Mountain, Morris enjoyed farming and collecting antique tractors. A man of his word and commitment, he proudly served his country in the Army National Guard, and retired from Alstom Power after 50 years of service.

He is preceded in death by his son, Richard “Tweed” Powell and parents, Richard and Jewell Powell.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 51 years, Marie H. Powell; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Heather Powell; grandchildren, Ethan and Mason Powell, of Chickamauga; sisters, Edna (Tom) Elliott, of Lookout Mountain and Elsie (David) Allen, of Chattanooga; and two nieces, three nephews and a host of friends.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, with Brother Michael Dunwoody officiating.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
