Lawrence Harmon
Lawrence Harmon, 77, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021.
He was the son of the late Clifford E. Harmon and Margie Grace Thames Harmon and was preceded in death by his loving wife of 27 years, Sheila Harmon aka “Mrs. Elwood”, brother, Don Harmon and sister, Sheryl Kaye Harmon.
Lawrence, affectionately known as “Grumpy”, retired from Savannah Valley Utility. He was a huge Georgia football fan and loved karaoke where he was known as “Mr. Elwood”. Lawrence served as a volunteer firefighter with the Highway 58 Fire Department. He was a member of the Sons of the Confederacy and Union Christian Church in South West Atlanta.
Survivors include two daughters, Kayse Allison (Dana), of Birchwood, Tn., Misty Catchings (Johnny), of East Ridge, grandson, Derick Gage Allison aka “Little Grumpy”, and a special friend, Angela Bently Dendy, of Newnan, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 12–4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Union Christian Church, 3595 Union Road SW, Atlanta, Ga., 30349.
