Melony Robinson
Melony Jeanene Robinson was born to James Robinson, Sr. and Peggy Ann Mathis on March 16, 1970, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
She was the youngest of all of her siblings. Melony graduated valedictorian of Kirkman Technical Center in 1988. She went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s nursing school in 1995. She began working at Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute in 1995. She worked at MBMHI until she retired in 2017 due to health issues. She was a proud member of Olivet Baptist Church. She found her passion working with the Girl Scouts.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Robinson, Sr.; mother, Peggy Mathis; beloved niece, Carisa Gay; sisters, Gloria Robinson, Deborah Gay, and Joyce Gay.
Her survivors include a daughter, Quinesha Suttles; three grandchildren, MelKayla and MyKendra Coates and Steven Carr, Jr.; niece, Eureka Gay; and nephew, Derrick Douglas, whom she raised like her own children; an adopted son, Dustin (Emily) Lynch; sister, Janika Robinson-Manley; three brothers, Willie Gay, Joseph Robinson, and James (Sherrill) Robinson, Jr.; best friends, Jeffrey and Shirley Sexton; a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as other family and friends.
Public viewing will be held from 2–6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
