Virginia Forbes

Virginia Ruth Post Forbes passed away peacefully at the family farm on December 3, 2021.

She was born on Thursday, April 5, 1934 on Brayton Mountain, Tn. She was the third of eight children born to George and Alice Post.  Virginia (or as she was affectionately known to friends and family as Giny) grew up in Graysville, then moved to Colorado to attend Campion Academy in Loveland, Colorado.  She met the love of her life, Donald Forbes, while living in Loveland.  They were married three months after meeting and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before Don’s passing in 2013.

Don and Giny were the parents of five children and for many years were fortunate enough to be called foster parents.  Giny adored children and fostering gave her the ability to share her love.  She was a gardener and had a gift for growing beautiful flowers.  Giny was also an avid bird watcher who would journal the various birds visiting her feeders daily.  Her family and friends were so aware of her love of birds that one year for Christmas she was given the exact same bird clock by five different family and friends.

Giny loved her sisters and enjoyed the many years of adventures they shared.  They had a tradition of celebrating all their birthdays together in June of each year by venturing to beautiful outdoor venues as they all were great fans of nature, flowers and all things flora and fauna.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Alice Post, her husband Donald Forbes, her daughter Debbie Forbes Wharry, her son Walter Forbes and her grandson Christopher Forbes, her four sisters Blossom Harmon, Dorothy Post Oliver, Pearl Hill and Georgie Devore, and her brother Lloyd Post.  She is survived by her children Dr. Pamela Forbes, Mike (Jackie) Forbes and Bo (Parrish) Forbes, grandson Jeffrey (Randi) Forbes and three grandchildren Evelyn Forbes, Haven Zimmerle and Kennedy Forbes.

Giny was of Adventist faith and a member of the Ogden Road Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dayton, TN.  She loved and trusted in Jesus and his promise of resurrection at His second coming.

There will be no formal services at this time.

Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services is honored to serve the Forbes family.
