Chattanooga FC Signs Veteran Striker Markus Naglestad For 2021 Season

Norwegian Has Had A Prolific Career

  • Tuesday, February 16, 2021

A gunslinger has arrived, all the way from Norway. Chattanooga Football Club is thrilled to announce the signing of Norwegian striker Markus Naglestad for the 2021 season. Markus is a seasoned professional who has scored goals in every division in which he’s played.

“We are excited to have signed Markus!” said Peter Fuller, Head Coach, Chattanooga FC.

“He is a player that our staff has had an eye on for quite some time. He had a great career at Providence College, leading them to the NCAA Final Four and has had a great career in Norway as well as a good season last year with Hartford Athletic in the USL Championship. He has scored goals at every level that he has played in, and we look forward to him bringing that quality to Chattanooga FC.”

After college, Markus was drafted in 2015 by MLS’ NYCFC, but didn’t sign a contract due to a knee injury. He has played for a number of teams in Norway, scoring 104 goals in 126 matches in his homeland.

“I’m so thankful that Chattanooga FC is welcoming me to the family and look forward to an exciting season ahead. Let’s go Chattanooga!” said Markus.

Last year, Markus netted a goal in eight appearances with USL Championship side Hartford Athletic alongside former CFC defender Gabi Torres. In 2019, he racked up 25 goals in 26 appearances for Egersund in 2. Divisjon (Norway’s third tier division).
