Junior Kirtland, 77, of Cleveland, departed this life on Wednesday morning, February 17, 2021 at his home. Born on Sept. 9, 1943 in Fort Payne, Al. to the late Sylvester Kirtland, Sr. and Izora Clifton Kirtland, he was retired from Simpson Bridge Company and enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Kirtland; son, Jonathan Kirtland; daughter, Bonnie Kirtland; and eight siblings.
Junior is survived by his children, Redeatha Bottoms(Tommy), Matthew Kirtland (Dixie Saffels) and Rita Lowe(Maurice); grandchildren, Thomas Bottoms, Misty Arp, Kimberly Kirtland, Zachary Lowe and Ashley Lowe; great-grandchildren, Jade Jones, Alyssa Hunt, Ariya Bottoms, Zane Casteel, John Lowe, Connor Lowe, Tripp Hawkins and Turner Hawkins; and sister, Veola Kirkland. Several nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life and Homegoing for Sylvester Kirtland, Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at Beacon Baptist Church, with Pastor Floyd Boggess officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Olive Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Friday and from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at the church.
