Patsy “Pat” Whitaker McCall, of Signal Mountain, died on February 16, 2021.

Pat was born in Calhoun, Tn., on May 26, 1935, the daughter of the late Carter Franklin and Marie “Liner” Whitaker. She attended Calhoun Schools where she led the Lady Squaws basketball team with over 1300 career points before graduating as the salutatorian of her class. She went on to attend Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, Tn.

She is survived by her four children, James Franklin McCall (the late Diane Brewer McCall), of Thompson Station, TN; Jeffrey Douglas (Laura) McCall, of Wake Forest, NC; Patti McCall (Jim) Fox, of Memphis, and Joseph Lamar (Jennifer) McCall, of Cartersville, GA. Pat was known as “Pat Pat” to her 7 grandchildren, whom she cherished: Marie Leighten McCall, Wake Forest, NC; Elizabeth Fox (Stephen) Lytle, Memphis, TN; Oliver Lake Fox, Memphis, TN; Nourse Whitaker Fox, Carlsbad, CA; Joseph “Carter” McCall, of Knoxville; Sarah Douglas McCall, of Knoxville; Matthew Daniels (Laura) McCall, of Knoxville.

Pat Pat was quick to celebrate their successes, send well-wishes and took pride in being involved in their full and productive lives. The smell of cornbread, baked apples and chocolate cake elicit fond memories of precious hours baking in her kitchen, drinking sweet tea and debating the successes and failures of the Lady Vols and Atlanta Braves. She also enjoyed the blessing of two great-grandchildren: Grayson Jeremiah Lytle and Ellery Rosa Lytle both of Memphis.

Pat was the sister of the late Bobbye Whitaker Curtis and is survived by her sisters, Libby W. Ivins (Dan), of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Jerry W. Shackelford (Kenny), of Decatur, Tennessee. Pat adored her many nieces and their families.

Pat was a member of First Centenary United Methodist Church, Chattanooga and a faithful member of the Chancel Choir for many years. She served the Joseph Decosimo CPA firm of Chattanooga for over 30 years. Pat's family would like to thank her neighbors and friends in the Signal Mountain community for their ever-present care and friendship.

Memorial services will be held in the spring at First Centenary United Methodist Church, Kate Lyle West Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, please make gifts in memory of Patsy Whitaker McCall to the Chancel Choir of First Centenary UMC, Chattanooga.

Arrangements are by Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415, www.lanefh.com, 423 877-3524.
