Marye Anne Monroe Sibold
Marye Anne Monroe Sibold, 84, of Signal Mountain entered the Kingdom of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 27, 2021 with her children surrounding her, singing hymns of praise and other favorite songs.
She was born March 6, 1936, and was affectionately known as "Mama Sibold" or "Mtn. Mama" to so many. A proud and still recently active member of Chattanooga High School, class of 1954 and First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dunward Beaumont Monroe and Ellen Bernice McIntosh Monroe, a brother, John Edward "Jack" Monroe; and the love of her life, husband, Dr. Harold Garst Sibold, whom we all called "Honey".
She is survived by a brother, Dunward B. Monroe (Brenda); sister, Carol Monroe, sister-in-law, Beverly Monroe; sons, Samuel Garst Sibold (Jessica), Ward Monroe Sibold (Amy), Joseph Bradford Sibold; daughters, Elizabeth Stoops Sibold, and Lara Ellen Sibold; grandchildren, McKenna, Mason, Isabella, and Spencer Sibold; nephews, Eddie Monroe (Cristy), Scott Monroe (Cindy), Stephen Monroe (Ann), an uncle, Robert Monroe (Sue) and several cousins, grand nephews and nieces, as well as extended family: Troy Potter; Paige, Dakota and Wade Freed; Elizabeth and Joseph Hoang.
Mom's serving and caring nature led her to Baroness Erlanger Nursing program after high school where she became an LPN, spending most of her career as a surgical scrub nurse and a home health care nurse.
Mom also spent her life with passion for music and theater. From City High school chorus and plays, to the Signal Mountain Glee club and First Presbyterian Church choir, mom kept music in her heart and instilled the appreciation in her children.
She admitted to being a sinner saved by grace to which fostered in us the trueness of Christ, believing that Grace is not something you earn. "For By Grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is a gift of God; not as a result of works" from Ephesians 2:8-9.
Mom's greatest joys in life were her family members and without fail, showing us that she loved us and not just saying it. She was always selfless and self sacrificing, especially for her children of whom she was so proud. Anyone who crossed her path could instantly recognize her fullness of love and a magnificent sense of humor. Her ability to forgive others is unmatched; yet another trait that was second nature and a personal reflection of Christ. We have no doubts mom is with her Lord and telling Him about her loved ones and singing around a campfire.

Mom has been a faithful prayer warrior and servant of the Lord Jesus Christ and would encourage all to Seek first the kingdom of God.
A private graveside service will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 6, at First Presbyterian Church, 554 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37402.
Visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. with a service to follow. Social distancing and the wearing of masks for the sake of COVID will be observed. Virtual streaming will be available via 1stpresbyterian.com
