Softball Round-Up: McMinn Co., Red Bank, Boyd Buchanan, Sale Creek And Central Are Winners

McMinn Co. 10, Bradley 2:  The Lady Cherokees jumped on the visiting Bearettes early and coasted to a 10-2 win.

Winning pitcher Sadie Brazzell scattered seven hits over seven timings, striking out eight Bradley batters while walking zero.

Meanwhile McMinn Co. pounded out 13 hits, including three doubles and a pair of homeruns.

The Lady Cherokees’ Aliyah Cagle and Sierra Tate led the way with three hits apiece and teammates Addie Benton and Reagan Wade each had two hits.

Red Bank 8, Silverdale 1: In a game played on the Seahawks’ home field, Red Bank shut down the home team to take a walk-away win over Silverdale, 8-1.

Red bank’s Lexie Wright led a seven hit Lady Lions’ hit parade with three of her own, including a double and a homerun. Bailee Phillips got the pitching win and chipped in with two hits of her own.

In the circle Phillips scattered four hits and struck out nine. Silverdale hurlers Breanna Sexton and Katie Willoughby struck out 13 between them.Willoughby also homered for the Lady Seahawks.

Boyd Buchanan 10, Hixson 0:  The Lady Bucs used an 11 hit barrage to shut out Hixson on Boyd Buchanan’s home diamond.

Boyd’s Gracie Petty slapped a pair of doubles, while Presley Williamson had a homerun and a two-bagger. Brooke Watson had three hits including a double and three RBIs. Kiley Elliott rounded out the Lady Bucs’ hit parade with two singles.

Elliott was also the winning pitcher with 11 strikeouts.

Sale Creek 11, Signal Mountain 0:  Olivia Day tossed a five hit shutout to lead the Lady Panthers to an 11-0 win over Signal Mountain Monday evening at Sale Creek.

Out of 66 pitches, Day put 43 in the strike zone, had four strikeouts and one base on balls.

Brooke Raines had three hits for the Lady Panthers, including a homerun. Alexis Raines, Shelby Sullivan and May Wilson each had two hits, one of which was a round-tripper for Wilson.

Central 5, Grace 3: Grace roared back from an early deficit and almost pulled off the comeback win over the Lady Pounders. Trailing by five late, the Lady Eagles scored two in the bottom of the sixth and one in the final stanza, eventually falling 5-3.

Calli Morgan was the winning pitcher, the right-hander tossed a complete game allowing seven hits with four strikeouts.

Each team had 10 hits. Mischa Johnson and Ashlyn Wood each had two hits for Central, while Miriam Ateca, Anna Rush and Ella Waldron each had a pair of hits for Grace.
