Eileen Francis Auel of Flintstone, Georgia, left this earth on March 3, 2021 and is now sitting at the feet of Jesus. We are all rejoicing in her homecoming.

Eileen was born on July 13,1951, in Ohio. After graduating from high school, she left home to attend Covenant College on Lookout Mountain in Georgia.

Eileen spent 44 years at Covenant College in “the mailroom” and faithfully served the faculty, staff, and students. She came to Covenant as a student, graduated and stayed on to work, eventually becoming the Department Manager of Office Services, staying in that position until she retired. The lobby of the mailroom area was named Auel Hall in her honor.

Eileen also was an accomplished cellist and played for the Chattanooga Symphony for many years.
She was known for her beautiful cross stitch work, handing out candy to her favorite waitstaff at her favorite restaurants, sending cards loaded with stickers all over the envelopes, sending funny emails to her friends, going out to eat and so much more. Eileen made friends wherever she went and had more friends than one could count.

Eileen also had a heart for animals and was always taking in a stray that found her. She thoroughly enjoyed the horses and cows that lived in a field next to her home and would buy apples just to feed them.

Eileen was preceded in death by her father, Norman Auel, her mother, Helen Auel and her sister, Barbara.

She is survived by her two nieces, Jennifer and Michelle, two great-nephews and a great-niece. She also leaves behind her many friends who cared for her and loved her.

There will be no service at the present time. If you wish to remember her, please make a donation in her name to an animal rescue of your choice or to Covenant College.
