Martha Casteel
Martha Marie Varnes Casteel peacefully passed from this earthly tent into the presence of our LORD, Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 4, 2021.
She was born in Graysville, Tn., living most of her life in the Chattanooga area. Her joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was the keeper of family history and knew each family member's birthday.
She was preceded in death by husband, Frank, son, Frankie, and great-grandson, JT, parents, Maggie and Fred Varnes, siblings, Katherine, Thelma, Virgil, Clyde and Raymond Clayton.
She is survived by her children, Jack (Lynda), Nancy and Suzie; grandchildren, Donnie, Paige, Trever, Scottie (Wendy), Jacob, Josh (Erika), Amanda (Gary); great-grandchildren, Amber, Caitlin, Chris, Camryn, Gracie, Hope, Gabe, Hayden (Glynne), Coleby, Chase, Joey, Megan (Mark), Caleb, Ben; great-grandchild, Mia; brothers, Robert and Edgar Varnes; many nieces, nephews and friends we include as family.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 12, from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, March 13, from 1-2 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Our family wishes to thank the staff of Soddy Healthcare for their loving care of Moma and making sure we could be physically with her during the last few weeks.
