Cleveland State softball played to a split with NCAA Division III opponent Maryville College on Sunday afternoon in Maryville, Tn.
In the first game, the Lady Cougars fell 11-2 in five innings. Lexi Vogel and Madison Miner had three hits each, while Cleveland State recorded nine total.
In the second game, Cleveland State won 7-4. Makala Strickland drove in two of the Lady Cougars’ four runs via a second inning home run. Strickland, Amber Atkins, Shayla Phillips and Olivia Harris each had two hits in the contest.
On the mound, Kaylee Cornelius earned the win with a solid four innings of work. Anna Yella pitched three innings to close out the game.
The Lady Cougars will be back in action on Monday as they travel to Volunteer State to resume conference play against the Lady Pioneers. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
