Jim Whaley
Jimmy “Jim” D. Whaley, 86, of Cleveland, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021, at a Collegedale health care facility.
Jim was a 1954 graduate of Bradley Central High School. He was inducted into the Old Timer’s Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Bradley Central Hall of Fame in 2007 for his time as a basketball player at Bradley. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Bowater after 40 plus years of service. Jim was a member and long time song leader at Union Grove Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Peggy Frazier Whaley; parents, Petus M. Whaley and Alene Robinson Whaley; twin brothers, Tommy and Johnny Whaley and brother, Don L. Whaley.
Survivors include his sons, Michael (Shari) Whaley of Grayslake, IL and Richard Whaley of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Betty Whaley of Cleveland; and nephews, Jeff (Tammy) Whaley of Ooltewah and Greg Whaley of Cleveland.
A graveside service will be held in Union Grove Church of Christ Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 with Roger Campbell officiating.
His family will receive friends from 12:30–2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home prior to the service. We will go in procession from the funeral home to the graveside service.
