After a lengthy illness, Samuel McCann, 76, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. 

Samuel was born on November 7, 1944 to the late James and Mary McCann. He was a resident of Whitwell, TN and had served in the United States Navy. Samuel had been employed at Burner Systems, Inc. as a maintenance supervisor before retiring. He loved and cherished his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. Samuel’s passion was fishing whether at the lake or deep-sea fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudette Jackson McCann; parents, James H. McCann and Mary Gear McCann; son, David Wade McCann; sisters, Beatrice Borders and Jimmie Lee Brown and grandchildren, Megan and Maci McCann.

Samuel leaves his memories of his life to his son, Scott (Kelli) McCann; daughters, Mendy Munn, Heather (Luis) Rojas, Peaches (Jason) Gibson; daughter-in-law, Melissa McCann; brother, Jim (Donnis) Crowe; sister, Wanda (Ray) Murphy; seventeen (17) grandchildren; five (5) great-grandchildren; children, Destinye, Devon, DeMarkus, Jasmine and Chanel Underwood; significant other, Sharlene Newvine along with several nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Per Covid regulations, anyone visiting will be required to wear a mask and social distancing will be in place.

The family will have visitation on Thursday, April 15, from 2-8 p.m. CT and Friday, April 16, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. CT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tn.

The funeral service will follow the visitation on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home with Brother Terry Murphy officiating.

Interment will be at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, following the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Terry Murphy, Tim Murphy, Jason Gibson, Luis Rojas and Jim Crowe, Jr.
