Chocolate-coffee-bowling-Vegas slots-creativity-intelligence-infallible kindness.  This was the essence of Ken.  On April 8, 2021, Kenneth A. Kapelinski, 69, entered the gates of heaven to join his parents, Alexander and Dorothy and younger brother, Alan.

Originally from Chicago, Ken obtained a graduate degree from Wayne State for Technical Theatre. He arrived in Chattanooga in 1981 and served as the Director of Fine Arts at UTC and then served as the Executive Director at the McKenzie Arena from 1999 to 2011. In his positions at UTC, he brought a variety of culture to our fair city in music, shows, sports, and drama.  He retired in 2011 to enjoy bowling, gambling, and fellowship with friends.

He is survived by his sister, Audrey Kapelinski of Irvine, Ca.; sister-in-law, Cheryl Kapelinski; nephews, Alex, Adam, and Gideon; and nieces, Bethany, Moriah, and Kassie.

He was much beloved by his family and bowling community…a treasure who will be sorely missed.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 8, at 11:45 a.m. at the Chapel of Devotion at Hamilton Memorial Gardens,  5351 Highway 153, Hixson.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Chattanooga or Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
