The Covenant women's tennis team celebrated its senior class in style as the Scots dominated Maryville in a 9-0 victory on Senior Day on Saturday at the Covenant Tennis Complex.
The win snapped a brief two-match slide for Covenant (9-5, 4-2 USA South).
Senior Mariah Westra paired with Nicole Restrepo for an 8-2 win at No. 2 over Maryville's Eliza Cheshire and Melanie Kowalewski. It was Westra's 24th career win in doubles play.
Covenant swept through doubles play to take a 3-0 lead.
Along with the Westra/Restrepo win, the Scots got victories from No. 1 and No. 3 spots. At the top flight, Madelyn Savage and Gillian Bosko were 8-4 winners over Kayla Zimmerman and Annastasia Dunn. At No. 3, it was Dani Rappuhn and Alexis Baker taking an 8-0 win over Abby Smither and Kelsey Effler.
In singles play, Savage continued her strong play at the No. 1 spot with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Zimmerman. The win was Savage's ninth of the year, and seventh at the top flight.
Bosko picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Dunn at No. 2, while Restrepo was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Kowalewski at No. 3. The bottom half of the lineup dropped a combined two games as Kacey Melton defeated Cheshire in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) at No. 4 and Baker did the same at No. 6 over Effler. Anna Logan was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 5 over Smither.
Covenant will travel to Knoxville on Wednesday to face Johnson at 3:30 p.m.
