The AIM Center will have its kickoff of “Get Moving for Mental Health” a fundraising and awareness event held throughout May on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Coolidge Park. The AIM Center is encouraging folks to improve their physical health by moving more in May and log this activity by clicking here “Get Moving for Mental Health” and in turn you will be supporting the AIM Center and mental health awareness.
"May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. As one of the first events on city property since the quarantine and COVID restrictions have been lifted, it is appropriate that it is an event supporting mental health awareness since so many have struggled over the past year," officials said.
“Physical health and mental health go hand in hand,” said Donna Maddox, executive director of the AIM Center.
“Daily we see in the midst of the quarantine and the pandemic, mental health challenges have skyrocketed.”
All are invited to join Mayor Tim Kelly, event emcee, News Channel 9 Senior Meteorologist Bill Race, and workout instructor Tobe Taylor of T2 Fitness at Coolidge Park for the Kickoff events on Saturday. Events will be outlined as follows:
10 a.m. - Welcome and Recognitions
10:30 a.m. - Get moving with Tobe Taylor, T2 Fitness
11:15 a.m. - Groove with DJ Roman Delany
