Will DeMersseman tied a career-best with a 73 and placed first as the Covenant golf team narrowly fell to Maryville, 304-305, in a dual match at Egwani Farms Course on Thursday.
Covenant had the top two finishers in the match as DeMersseman was trailed by Crawford Collett who fired a 74. The Scots' 305 as a team was the low round of the season.
DeMersseman's first-place finish was the first of his career. The 73 on the par-72 Egwani Farms course was the best score relative to par in DeMersseman's collegiate career.
Collett's 74 was a season-best for the junior.
Isaac Duncan placed in a tie for fifth overall with a 77 and Kenny Duffin was ninth with an 81. Joel Dahms finished with an 85, a season-best for the senior.
Maryville had four players finish inside the top five led by Colbe Cagle's 75.
Covenant concludes the regular season at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate on April 12-13.
