Doug Blevins
The heavenly gates opened with the angels singing as Paul “Doug” Douglas Blevins, 63, entered his heavenly home on April 7, 2021.
Doug had been a lifetime resident of South Pittsburg, Tn., and was born on March 18, 1958 to the late Luther and Bertha Blevins. He had been employed with the Tennessee Department of Transportation as a truck driver.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Benjamin Blevins and Bertha Lillian Hogan; brothers, Houston Blevins, Sherman Blevins and Wendell Blevins and sisters, Louise Payne, Judy Huckabee and Wilma Mashburn.
He leaves his fondness memories to his brothers, Stanley (Tonya) Blevins; Johnny Blevins; Fred (Donna) Blevins and Greg (Denita) Blevins; sisters, Carolyn Scissom, Barbara (Doug) Powers, and Diane (Bo) Massengale; brother-in-law, John Mashburn; sister-in-laws, Edna Blevins and Prissy Blevins, along with a host of nieces, nephews and special friend, Peggy Taylor.
Doug had worked on the South Pittsburg Ferry as a deckhand. He was avid fan of the University of Knoxville Tennessee Vols and South Pittsburg Pirates. In his spare time, Doug enjoyed taking care of his farm and driving his John Deere tractor.
The family will have visitation on Friday, April 9, from 4-8 p.m. CT and Saturday, April 10, from 1 p.m. until the service at 3 p.m. CT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tn.
The funeral service will follow the visitation in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 10, at 3 p.m.
Doug will be laid to rest following the funeral service at New Hope Cemetery, Pine Grove Road, New Hope, Tn. Doug's nephews will serve as pallbearers.
