Lois Russell
Lois Mahan Russell was born on May 7, 1941, in Dallas County to the late Mr. Lonzie Mahan, Sr., and Mrs. Orstella Mahan. She peacefully departed this life on May 4, 2021, at Erlanger East Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of College Hill AME Zion Church, Selma, Al.
She was a graduate of Brantley High School, class of 1957. Upon moving to Chattanooga, she united with Allen Temple AME Zion Church. She was known for having beautiful plants and flowers that she lovingly shared with all who asked.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Russell, Chattanooga, four sisters, Sallie Mae Foster of Tuscaloosa, Al., Annie Jean (Otis) Wade, of Reno, Ne., Willie M. Anderson, of Tuscaloosa, Costella Carter, of Selma, Al., two brothers, Arthur Mahan, of Peterson, Lonzie Mahan, Jr., of Detroit, Mi.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband of 60 years, Mr. Charlie Russell; son, Curtis Russell, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; one sister, Louise Bivins, of Tuscaloosa; one brother, Robert (Sharon) Mahan, of Phoenix, Arizona; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Margaret Ruffin, Willie Mae Wheeler and Shonda Black. Special thanks to Barbara and Rita for their special care during her illness.
Public viewing will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m.
Interment will be in Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery
