Mildred Y. Traffanstedt, of Hixson, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 10, 2021, at her home after an eight-year battle with cancer.
Mildred was born in Soddy Daisy, and lived the majority of her life in Hixson. Mildred was a loyal loving wife and mother who will be immensely missed. She was a graduate of Soddy Daisy High School and worked 40 years at Coors Ceramic. She helped inspect parts of the Hubble Telescope.
Mildred was a devout Christian who served the Lord her entire life. Mildred loved animals, hummingbirds, plants and cookbooks. Mildred was also a wonderful seamstress.
Her husband, Willie Traffanstedt, parents, Henry and Myna Yates, sister, Alma Mitchell preceded her in death as well as two of her stepchildren, Jerry (Debra) and Paul.
Survivors include her only child, Michael J. (Cindy) Traffanstedt; and four beloved stepchildren, Willie Gene (Betty), Betty (Bobby), Angie and Sharon; as well as her grandchildren, Carmen, Jana, Keisha, John, Rick, Ted, Angel and Chance, great-grandson, Luca, and great-granddaughter, Sophia, nephew, Gary (Anita).
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 14, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, 5351 Highway 153, Hixson with Chaplain Matthew Rickman officiating.
Visitation will be held at the gravesite at Hamilton Memorial Gardens from 2:30–3 p.m. prior to the graveside services on Friday.
