Carlos Benford
Carlos Levon Benford, 35, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
He was a 2003 graduate of Howard High School and attended Chattanooga State Community College.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Olivia Benford; grandfathers, Walter Freeman and Ellis Sanders; grandmother, Emma Jane Sanders; uncles, Melvin, Harold, David, Michael Benford, Victor Freeman, and Guy Wilkerson; cousins, Alex and Dennis Freeman.
Survivors include his daughter, Carlayziah Benford; father, Michael Sanders; grandmother, Juliette Freeman, both of Chattanooga; brothers, Mark Sanders of Savannah, GA, Courtney (Cierra) Benford, and Julian Benford; sister, Shinerra Benford (Dewon) Holland, all of Chattanooga; uncles, Walter (Hilda) Lindsey, Gregory (Gwendolyn) Pittmon, Norman Freeman, and Nathan (Rena) Benford; aunts, Lois (Kenneth) Martin, Emma Benford, Betty Freeman, Sandra Benford, and Sheila Whitlock; great-aunts, Norma Jean Hughley and Ruby Lena Word; daughter’s mother, Tynika Clemmons-Edwards; nephews, JaMauri, Courtney, and Kenyon Benford; nieces, Khaleia Adair, Alyviana Holland, Brianna, Peyton, Julianna, and Deborah Benford; special friend, Chinita Heard; a host of cousins; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be on Thursday, May 20, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home.
