  • Wednesday, May 5, 2021

Berniece Woody Pack, 99, of Cleveland, departed this life on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at her residence, surrounded by family. Though we are heartbroken to say goodbye, we are thankful that she is at peace.

She was of the Baptist faith. She was born in Etowah to the late Robert Woody and Belle Cheek Woody, and was a graduate of Polk County High School. She lived at the historic Caney Creek Village with her parents and family. She enjoyed attending the PCHS yearly Alumni Banquet and visiting with old friends. After retirement from Sanda Hosiery Mill, she was a volunteer for the Cleveland Public Library and taught reading to adults. She was an avid reader and was very proficient in knitting and embroidery, and was generous with her book collection and with gifts of her knitting and embroidery projects.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by daughter, Rebecca Pack Fisher; grandson, Richard (Rick) Puckett; brother, Bernard Woody; and sisters, Barbara Campbell and Alleen Ray.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Nancy Hydas (Herman), Robin Forester (Jim) and Kim Au (Brownie); grandchildren, Terry Bailey, Wiley Lowe, Cristi Blankemeyer, T. J. Green, Jasmine Howard and Griffin Au; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 5 from noon-2 p.m. A Celebration of Life for Berniece will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5 from the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home, with T.J. Green officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Memorial Gardens, with grandsons, sons-in-law and grandsons-in-law serving as pallbearers.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the attending staff of Caris Hospice, Tennessee Home Health and At Home Primary Care for their kind and compassionate care.

Donations may be made to the Cleveland Public Library or your local area adult literacy agency.
