Mary Helen Johnston, 94, of East Brainerd, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

Helen was a member of the Ooltewah Church of God and former member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Helen was born in Hazard, Ky., to the late Hamilton P. and Lexie Tallent on April 9, 1927. She was a bookkeeper, retiring from Brown Brothers Construction and Adcox Kirby Chevrolet.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence L Johnston; siblings, Glenn O. Tallent, Ray H. Tallent, and Norma Jean Lee.

She is survived by her son, Larry (Cathy) Johnston; granddaughter, Kimberly Huskin (Jason) Arp; grandson, Larry Michael (Savannah) Johnston; great-grandchildren, Caleb Huskin, Madison Johnston; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Reverend Willard Griffin Jr. officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Ooltewah Church of God at 9320 Lee Hwy Ooltewah, Tn. 37363.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 11, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
