Tajai McCrary
Tajai DaVaughn McCrary, 18, of Chattanooga, transitioned from mortal to glorious immortality Tuesday, April 27, 2021.
He was a 2020 graduate of Brainerd High School Exceptional Education Program. Tajai began this life without any indication of illness but by age three he was first diagnosed as having epilepsy and later irretractable cerebral palsy.
Survivors include his loving father and caretaker, Mickey J. McCrary; sister, Vaneecia Shantell McCrary; maternal siblings, Kameron Trammell, Kelli Trammell, Marvin Williams, Jr., Christopher Williams, Kaya Benford, Anthony Gordon III, all of Chattanooga, and Alexis Long of Kentucky; nana, Mary E. “Van” McConnell of Chattanooga; uncle, Brian R. McConnell of Cincinnati, OH; great-aunt, Christine McConnell Williams; great-uncle, Roy C. (Zeddie) McConnell, all of Chattanooga; a host of other relatives and friends. Thanks to T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital, doctors, hospital staff and Neurology Department throughout the last 15 years, Dr. Thomas Ireland, Jr., special thanks to Hamilton County Department of Education, Brainerd High School exception education program, principals: Dr. James, Dr. Perry, Mr. Terrance Hannah, Nurse Willliams and Staff, also any and everyone who contributed to his well-being.
Tajai will lie in state on Wednesday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the family service to follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Terrance Hannah as the eulogist.
