Politics And Football

  • Monday, June 14, 2021

The wonderful football tradition of winner versus loser is so exciting each fall football season. My family often travelled to Ann Arbor to watch Michigan play Ohio State or Navy. My father was a graduate and in Naval Reserve, but let me get to the topic.

Our country is blessed with a two party system and some semblance of noises from smaller parties every election cycle. Our two party system, Democrat and Republican, do not play by the same rules as are required in a football game. If you have been keeping up with the news it is not a pleasant past-time reading what is happening, both with the two party system and the discontent felt in the United  States. Did you read that Donald Trump is coming back in August? If you have not heard, this is what he is saying to friends and staff. Yup, he'll be back oh, but I digress just a little.

Let's, for the sake of an argument, assume politics are similar to a football game. Let us assume that one party when they have the ball can move the goal post up 40 yards closer to the that team. Or better yet, let us make this game really unfair and allow the quarterback to be allowed to throw the ball to an open man with no defense allowed.  After the good guys win our football game the losers have not shaken hands and are plotting a new interference but not our football game. This interference is adjusting voting so that millions have newer hurdles to vote.

I am speaking about the Republican party. They got trounced in a fair game in 2020 and now they want to change the rules of the game of voting. The election of 2020 was certified. The election is over. The Dems won, but oh my, Arizona is doing a recount of the votes and not by the state officials but by an unknown company. Pennsylvania is considering doing the same.

Oh, American voter, wake up to what is happening right in front of your eyes. The carnival barker has trained the American people, not with a whip, but with a frenzied appeal to overthrowing the will of the voter, you and me.
