Mary Woods
At the beautiful age of 96 years old, the Lord took Mary Pittman Woods to her heavenly home on Monday, June 14, 2021.
Mary had lived most of her life in Jasper, with her husband, the late Lewis V. Woods. She was born on May 7, 1925, to the late Chester Daniel and Gertrude Hamilton Pittman. Mary was of the Church of God faith and a member of Whiteside Church of God in Whiteside, Tn.
Mary had worked as a waitress for many years at Ridley’s Restaurant and was then known as “Mrs. Mary” for the many years she worked at Wood’s Fruit Stand with her husband. She always greeted you with a smile, a hug and a big hello. Mary was known for never meeting a stranger. She loved her family and being with people. Her lives enjoyments were cooking and sewing. Mary will always be remembered by the people that crossed her path, as the lady that loved with all her heart and made you feel like you were part of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis V. Woods; parents, Chester Daniel and Gertrude Hamilton Pittman; and sisters, Belva (Hershel) Fletcher and Ruby (Paul) Phillips.
Mary leaves her world of memories to her nephews, Danny (Kathy) Howard, Glen (Fayetta) Grayson and Keith Grayson, several nieces, nephews and lots of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Whiteside Church of God in Whiteside, Tn., in her memory.
The family will have visitation on Wednesday, June 16, from 4-8 p.m. CT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tn.
There will be a graveside service held at 11 a.m. CT on Thursday, June 17, at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, with Pastor Donnie Moreland officiating.
