Frances Marie McRedmond Alt of Lookout Mountain, Georgia was called by God and left this earth on June 11, 2021. Frances is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Alexander S. McRedmond, of New York, New York.

 

Frances was an extraordinary and radiant individual. She was the silent anchor of her family and a beacon of wisdom and compassion. She was an artist whose talent was natural, effortless, and deeply admired.

 

She will be remembered for her strength of spirit, the sincerity and warmth of her nature, the depth and beauty of her character, and her selfless devotion to her family and Catholic faith. Most of all, Frances will be remembered for her love – the inexhaustible and unconditional love that she had for her husband and family.

 

Frances was preceded by her late husband, Tracy Neil Matthews, Jr, of Delhi, New York; her brother, William John McRedmond of Delhi, New York; her sister, Katherine Teresa Leal of Delhi, New York and Hixson, Tennessee; daughter, Regina Christine Matthews Oehmig and her husband Lewis West Oehmig, Jr of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee; and her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Matthews of Lookout Mountain, Georgia.

 

Frances is survived by her husband William Thomas Alt of Lookout Mountain, Georgia; daughter, Barbara Susan Matthews Law, Lookout Mountain, Tennessee; sons, Tracy (Cheryl) Neil Matthews Jr, Cleveland, Tennessee, Stephen (Shawn) John Matthews, Lookout Mountain, Georgia and Peter Redmond Matthews, Rome, Georgia. Grandchildren are Lewis West Oehmig III, Neil Matthews Oehmig, William McRedmond King Oehmig, Mary Frances Christine Oehmig; Emerson Matthews Brown and Emmett Newton (Martha) Law, all of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee; Kristen (Carlos) Matthews Rivera, Cumming, Georgia; Jessica Frances Matthews, Cleveland, Tennessee; Ryan (Emily) Christopher Doherty of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; Paige (Jon) Nyssa Matthews Hanna of Wilmington, Delaware; Collin Redmond Matthews and Gabrielle Bates Matthews, of Rome, Georgia. Also, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will gather for a Vigil on Sunday evening, June 20, 2021. 

 

A private Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021, followed by a procession to the Memorial Garden where she will be laid to rest.
