Michael Wayne Amos, 67, of Dalton passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

He was the son of the late J.D. and Gussie Mae Skipper Amos.

He is survived by his siblings, Richard Gregg Amos (Judy), Deborah Ann Amos and Phillip David Amos (Cathy).  He is also survived by his former wife, Janey Miller; nieces and nephews, Tanja Sucher (John), Josh Amos (Tiffany), Zachary Amos (Collin) and Christina Amos. Cousins and other family members also survive.

Michael loved gathering with his family to celebrate special occasions and especially enjoyed sharing in the lives of his nieces and nephews and their children.  He was proud to be called "Uncle Mike" and took joy in filling this special role. Michael was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country from 1975 until 1979 in Vietnam aboard the USS Flint. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dalton.

Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 19, in Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by American Legion Post 112.

The family will receive friends following the service on Monday from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Atrium of First Baptist Church of Dalton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Children’s Ministry, P.O. Box 827 Dalton, GA 30722.
