Sarah Hicks
Sarah Jane Hicks, 95 of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021, in her home.
Sarah was born and raised in the Chattanooga area and was of the Baptist faith. She worked for several years at Apex as a spinner and raised four children. Sarah liked to go to Goodwill, sew, and play Bingo. She earned her driver’s license at age 66 and loved to go. Sarah was a feisty, strong and dedicated wife, mother, and Nanny. She was affectionately known as “Momma” by many because of her never ending love, loyalty, and support. Sarah is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Hicks; daughter, Shirley Pressley; grandson, Jimmy Pressley; son-in-law, David Pressley; both parents; and all of her siblings.
Survivors include her children: Elizabeth Duncan (Bill Green), Lisa Hicks, Roy (Sheila) Hicks; grandchildren: Kasey Wortman, Chris Townsend, Jr., Savannah Ingle, Becky Robinson, and Lil’ Roy Hicks; great grandchildren: Jamie Pressley, Alexis Grant, Chasity and Dakota Robinson, and Jackson Townsend; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 28, at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Joseph Wilser officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
