Richard D. Gillis, 85, of Rossville, passed away Monday, July 26, 2021, in a local hospital. 

 

He was of the Christian faith.  Richard was the owner of Richard’s Hydraulics until his retirement.  He collected antique irons and was a member of the Midwest Sad Iron Collectibles Club.  Richard enjoyed NASCAR racing, was an Atlanta Braves fan, jokester and you knew exactly what he was thinking.  

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Phyllis Gillis; sisters, Mary Ann and Isabelle; and granddaughter, Christina.

 

Survivors are his loving wife of 30 years, Billie Jean; daughter, Michelle Gillis; step-son, Rick (Christy) Rickenbaker; sisters, Margie Gillis and Judy Brunelle of Windsor, Canada; and several nieces and nephews all of Windsor, Canada; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and dear friend John Rickenbaker.

 

The family would like to thank Heartlite Hospice for their love and kindness. 

 

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Jason Williams officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
