Lola Garrett
Lola Burr Garrett, 88, of North Georgia, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021, surrounded by family at a local care facility.
Lola attended the Rosalie school system. She was an active member of Union Avenue Baptist Church for over 50 years where she enjoyed singing in the choir and doing church ministry. She spent the majority of her working years at Simco Leather Company, and prior to her retirement at Big Horn. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and going to the beach with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leney and Sallie (Underwood) Phillips; her grandparents who raised her, Andrew Phillips and Mary Loutilla (Heard) Phillips; her husband of 25 years and father of her children, William P. Burr; her second husband, Macon Garrett, Jr.; and her siblings, Roy Phillips, Sylvia Williams, Troy Phillips, Beatrice Kilgore, Imogene Posey, and Hubert Phillips.
Lola is survived by her daughters, Sheila (Jeff) Rayburn and Tina (Larry) Trew; her grandchildren, Kyle Trew, Colton (Courtney) Trew, Jeffrey Rayburn, Jr., and Alex Rayburn; her siblings, Louila Posey, Bill (Betty) Phillips, and Jack Phillips; and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Randy Thomas officiating. A private burial will take place at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13, at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
