Jessie Haston Hearn LeMay of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on August 1, 2021, at the age of 92.

Jessie was born on November 12, 1928, in Sparta, Tennessee and soon after her birth moved with her family to Chattanooga. Following her graduation from Chattanooga Central High School, she married William Harold Hearn of Chickamauga, Georgia at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Jessie and Harold remained happily married for 56 years until his death in 2002.

In addition to being an amazing wife, daughter, sister, mother to her three sons, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, Jessie was employed by the Chattanooga City School System for 17 years. She was also a faithful member of Ridgedale Baptist Church where she worshiped and served as a teacher of young adults.

In 2004, Jessie married Reverend Hiram A. (H.A.) LeMay, and they resided in Gallatin, Tn., until they moved to Chattanooga in 2018.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Lillian Haston; her first husband, William Harold Hearn; and sisters, Barbara Haston Vandergriff and Evelyn Haston Sisemore.

She is survived by her current husband, Hiram A. LeMay, her sons, William Michael (Bonnie) Hearn of Chattanooga, David Harold Hearn of Plano, Tx., and Steven Brian (Denise) Hearn of Chattanooga, and granddaughter Ashley Michelle “Meadow” Hearn of Denver.

Jessie’s family would like to thank the staff and administration of the Bridge of Ooltewah Assisted Living Facility for the care and attention they provided Jessie during her residency there. These individuals gave generously of their time, affection, hugs, and tears, and Jessie loved and adored each one of them. They became her very best friends, and for this, her family will always be grateful.

A private graveside service for Jessie will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, TN, with Reverend Doug Plumlee officiating.

A public visitation and gathering of Jessie’s family and friends will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21, between the hours of 10 a.m.-noon, at Ridgedale Baptist Church, located at 1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Ridgedale Baptist Church Building Fund, 1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421 or ridgedalebaptist.org/give/

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
