Deadheads from around the region will be making their way to Ross’s Landing Saturday to listen and celebrate the music of Jerry Garcia.  Tennessee’s Dead is headlining this week’s show. With over 90 songs on their playlist, the Nashville-based jam band will be bringing back memories and sharing their love for the music so many have enjoyed over the decades.

Garcia was the lead guitarist and vocalist for the Grateful Dead.  The original ‘leader of the band’, Garcia died on Aug. 9, 1995.  Since that time, annual celebrations of his life and music occur around that date.

Opening for Tennessee’s Dead will be local group Dalton & the Boys, an ‘outlaw country band’.  The group says their music is ‘bad boy gospel’ and is ready to put on a show that will get the show started and the crowd pumped.

Produced by Friends of the Festival, Riverfront Nights is experiencing its most successful season ever with more than 20 sponsors and a diverse line up of vendors providing food and beverages to keep the crowd happy, said officials.

Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Emmaline’s, Hanner International, Kena’s Cajun Kitchen, Kenny’s Smokehouse, and the Kettlecorn Man.  All of that can be washed down with Budweiser, Coca-Cola products, and Hard Truth Liquor. Vendor sales begin at 6:30 p.m., so guests are encouraged to arrive prior to showtime as they enjoy the evening on the banks of the Tennessee River. Coolers and snacks, as well as pets, are permitted.

In addition, the Friends of the Festival are promoting safe COVID practices by encouraging social distancing and having sanitation stations located throughout the venue.

Friends of the Festival Executive Director Mickey McCamish said, “We’re excited to have growing crowds throughout our series.  Ross’s Landing is a great setting that attracts family and friends to enjoy a fun evening on the river and we can’t wait to celebrate the music of Jerry Garcia.”

The remaining shows for Riverfront Nights take place every Saturday in August. Each show begins at 7 p.m. and ends around 10 p.m.
