Carmelita Howell Walker, 89, a resident of Cleveland, went to her heavenly home, Friday, September 17, 2021 in Cleveland, Tn. 

She was a beautiful woman of deep faith, elegant grace, and genuine love. She was the consummate pastor’s wife, serving side-by-side in ministry with her husband for 70 years. Mrs. Walker was a musician, speaker, teacher, author, mentor, and leader. Her greatest love was her husband and her deepest joy was being a mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Walker was a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Her legacy of Christ-like love in action will be felt for all eternity. She will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Paul LaVerne Walker, parents, Augustus Valentine Howell and Eva Lewis Howell; son, Paul Dana Walker, sister, Pecola Jean Johnson; and brothers, Charles Howell and Jerry Howell.

She is survived by son Dr. Mark Walker and wife, Udella of Cleveland TN; grandson, Dr. Justin Walker and wife, Amanda of Ooltewah TN; granddaughter, Ashten Dick and husband, Caleb of Birmingham AL, great-grandchildren, Kennedy Walker, Judah Walker, and Levi Dick; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. at Lee University Chapel with Dr. Mark Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, at Ralph Buckner funeral home.
