  • Tuesday, September 21, 2021

Meg Fairbanks O’Neal, 58, was welcomed into the arms of her heavenly father on August 30, 2021.

She was a graduate of Red Bank High School and received her LPN from the Chattanooga School of Practical Nursing. Among her nearly 40 years as a nurse, TLC Home Health Care & ContinuCare Home Health are where she devoted her time tenderly caring for her beloved patients. She was a faithful and devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church-Red Bank where she served in the nursery, Calvary Kids ministry and Good News Club (Red Bank Elementary). She spent much of her time volunteering at her children’s schools, Alpine Crest Elementary and Red Bank Middle and High Schools. She cherished her time serving faithfully alongside her husband Chip running the concession stands at both Red Bank Dixie Youth Baseball Fields and Red Bank Football. Meg loved the fall time, cheering on the UTC Mocs and Dallas Cowboys during football season, Disney trips with her family, making things beautiful with her endless crafting skills, and unsweet tea. Also known as mom and Gee Gee, she was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who loved and adored her children, grandchildren, sisters and many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Chip O’Neal; her daughter Blair (Jeremy) Ballard and son Ben (Carolyn) O’Neal; grandchildren Bryan (“Bryan James”), Emma (“Emma Lou”), Cooper (“Coopy”), Caleb (“Calove”) and Kate (“Chookie”); her two sisters, Jamie Harvey and Wendy Lyness; many nieces, nephews, dear family and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Skipper and Carolyn Fairbanks.

To honor Meg’s memory, visitation will be held on Monday Sept. 27, from 4-8 p.m. outside the Calvary Baptist Red Bank fellowship hall at 5201 Dayton Blvd. All who knew and loved her are welcome.

Arrangements are by Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415, www.lanefh.com, 423 877-3524.
